St Francis Braintree

Peace Garden

Our Peace Garden was opened on 11th May 2018 and is a focal point for prayer within our school.  It is used by the children for both individual and class prayer, as well as being a whole school gathering place for our annual May Procession. The children look after the Peace Garden throughout the year, keeping it tidy and well-presented.  It is a very special place for our school.

Prayer of St Francis

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love.
Where there is injury, pardon.
Where there is discord, unity.
Where there is doubt, faith.
Where there is error, truth.
Where there is despair, hope.
Where there is sadness, joy.
Where there is darkness, light.

O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek
To be consoled as to console.
To be understood as to understand.
To be loved as to love.
For It is in giving that we receive.
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned.
It is in dying that we are born to eternal life.

Centenary Poppies in our Peace Garden

As a school, each pupil made a poppy to be planted at the foot of our cross in the Peace Garden for the 100 Year celebration since the end of World War 1. We held a special assembly on Friday 9th November and held a minute silence to remember those who fought and died for us.
