Admissions Policy

The Governing Body of St. Francis Catholic Primary School is responsible for all admissions.  Parents are urged to seriously consider their commitment to the Catholic Faith and how it is expressed before requesting admission.  The standard number to admit for the Reception Class is 30.  Where applications for admissions exceed the number of places available, the Governing Body will allocate places in the following categories in the order set out below

If you are considering moving your child to St. Francis during their Primary Education this must be done through Essex Local Authority Admissions Department - http://www.essex.gov.uk/Education-Schools/Schools/Admissions/Pages/Applying-mid-year-for-a-school-place.aspx

Please note that the process for this will change on 1st April 2022 and by returning to this site on that date will give you the new information. Alternatively, please call the school and ask to speak to the Headteacher. 

Prospective parents are welcome to view the school and should telephone the school office to make an enquiry and an appointment with the Headteacher. Applications and admissions are made against the current admissions criteria within the policy. (see link above)

*The catchment for St. Francis Catholic Primary School, Braintree, is defined by the Diocese of Brentwood as the parish of Our Lady, Queen of Peace, Braintree, east to but not including Coggeshall, north to Halstead and the Hedinghams, west to Wethersfield, Finchingfield, Great Bardfield, Stebbing and the town of Great Dunmow.  The catchment to the south from Dunmow east of the A 130 to Howe Street, east to Great Leighs and along the A 131 to Braintree. The boundary to the south of the town extends as far as Cressing and Black Notley.
