YOUNG FRANCISCANS
Our St Francis Young Franciscans group's mission is to make a difference in our community through responding to need through action and prayer. We meet regularly to discuss need in our community and how we, as a school can respond and help those who are most in need. We also work within our school community leading prayer based initiatives as we continue our journey in faith. We aim to follow in the footsteps of St Francis and his virtues to be seen through all of our actions.

Supporting Our Community
During Advent, we have preparing to visit elderly members of our local community at a residential care home to perform Christmas Carols and deliver them Christmas Cards at this special time of the year. We have designed and made our cards and learnt to sing and play a range of carols. We hope that we can bring some joy at this time of year.
Leading Liturgy in Our School
This term we have planned and led prayer on the theme of Remembrance and Advent.
Collecting for the Foodbank
We launched a school-wide appeal to collect donations for our local foodbank in Braintree as part of our Harvest Celebrations. Our school collected over 160kg of food and we organised the food for collection.
Advent Appeal for the Jesuit Refugee Service
During Advent, we joined with the Parish SVP group to collect for the Jesuit Refugee Service. We collected the items through the donations of our school community and took them to the Presbytery so that they could be collected by the Jesuit Refugee Service and used for the needs of people within the community.
Bible Bags
Bible Bags
Our Bible Bag initiative encourages families to pray together and share and reflect on Bible stories. This year we are focusing on Pope Francis's message of living together in friendship and caring for our neighbour.
Below, is our guide to prayer using Our Bible Bags.
